What is MEB-AGS?

MEB-AGS is the Academy Entrance Examination system used in selecting teacher candidates for preparatory education at the Millî Eğitim Akademisi in Türkiye. It was first implemented in 2025. Depending on the teaching field, the relevant path may use AGS alone, AGS with ÖABT, or AGS with YDS/e-YDS.

That means there is no single input pattern for every candidate. The teaching field must be selected first, and the calculator then exposes the second component that actually applies to that field.

What does this calculator actually calculate?

The tool exposes two different levels of certainty. Test nets are exact under the published rule: correct answers minus one quarter of wrong answers. The score shown from those answers is a calibrated estimate designed to approximate the public scoring output and is labelled as an estimate rather than an official result.

• Exact: each AGS and ÖABT test net.
• Exact: whether the field follows AGS + ÖABT, AGS + YDS/e-YDS, or AGS alone.
• Exact: by official ÖSYM rule, if your total net across the whole AGS session — or across the whole ÖABT or YDS/e-YDS session — is below 1, that score is not calculated. This means "could not be calculated," not a zero score.
• Estimated: MEB-AGS-P1 and field scores where a reliable calibration exists.
• Not fabricated: a field score where no trustworthy field-specific calibration exists.

How is the AGS net calculated?

For both AGS and ÖABT, the basic rule is net = correct − wrong / 4. Four wrong answers cancel one correct answer; unanswered questions do not directly reduce the net.

If you already know a test net and it is zero or higher, you can leave the Wrong field empty and type the net directly into Correct; this makes it faster to compare mock-exam scenarios without reconstructing every answer count. The Correct field does not accept a negative value, so a negative net can only come from entering the actual correct and wrong counts separately.

2026-and-later versus 2025 question distribution

Exam year and question distribution are separate controls in the calculator. The current exam-year option is 2026, while the question-distribution switch lets you use either the 2026-and-later structure or the 2025 structure. This is useful for comparing current work with 2025-format practice material without mixing question limits.

• 2026 and later: Verbal Reasoning 15, Quantitative Reasoning 15, History 6, Geography of Türkiye 6, National Education System 30, Legislation 8 — 80 questions in total.
• 2025: Verbal Reasoning 15, Quantitative Reasoning 15, History 10, Geography of Türkiye 8, National Education System 24, Legislation 8 — again 80 in total.
• ÖABT totals 50 questions. Most fields use one Field Knowledge block; the Religious Culture and Ethics / İmam-Hatip paths use a 10 + 23 + 17 three-part layout.

How do ÖABT and YDS affect the MEB-AGS score?

For fields with an ÖABT, the official combination principle is 50% AGS plus 50% ÖABT. Foreign-language fields use YDS or e-YDS instead of ÖABT; the published rule uses the highest valid result obtained in the same year before AGS. Fields that require neither an ÖABT nor a language exam use AGS alone.

The calculator follows the path of the field you select. It shows ÖABT inputs for ÖABT fields, a YDS/e-YDS input for the language path currently supported by the tool, and AGS-only inputs when no second examination applies.

How to use the MEB-AGS calculator

1. Choose your teaching field; the calculator resolves whether that field needs ÖABT or a language component.
2. Choose the exam year. The current available year is 2026.
3. Select the question distribution you want to model: 2026 and later, or 2025.
4. Enter AGS correct and wrong answers. If you already know the net, leave Wrong blank and type the net into Correct.
5. If your field needs ÖABT, fill its ÖABT inputs; if the supported language path applies, enter the valid YDS/e-YDS score.
6. Read the section nets, total net, estimated P1 score and, where available, the estimated field score together.

Correct plus wrong answers cannot exceed the question limit for that section. Switching the question distribution updates those limits automatically.

How should you read the estimated score?

The estimate is most useful for comparing your own performance across mock exams or net scenarios. It can show, for example, how a stronger History net or a change in ÖABT performance shifts your estimated score profile.

• Treat a single estimate as a performance indicator, not a guaranteed official score.
• When comparing distributions, remember that some sections have different question limits.
• A missing field score does not mean zero; it may mean that no reliable field calibration exists.
• For any formal application or preference decision, use the official ÖSYM result document.

Common mistakes

• Treating exam year and question distribution as the same setting.
• Selecting an ÖABT field but interpreting AGS-only performance as the full field score.
• Using an invalid or wrong-period YDS/e-YDS result for a language field.
• Reading an estimated score as an official ÖSYM score or Academy admission result.
• Treating an unavailable field calibration as a zero score.
• Entering correct + wrong answers above the section’s question limit.
