What is KPSS?
KPSS stands for Kamu Personel Seçme Sınavı, Turkey’s Public Personnel Selection Examination. It is used in different public-sector recruitment pathways depending on education level, target position, field and official recruitment announcement.
For many candidates, KPSS is not just an exam score. It is connected to graduation plans, public-sector career goals, teaching pathways, city choices, application periods and long-term preparation effort.

How is the KPSS score calculated?
The calculation starts with net scores for each test. A net score is calculated by subtracting one fourth of wrong answers from correct answers. The calculator then estimates each score type that can be calculated within the selected group, using the tests and weights relevant to that score type.
The basic net formula used here is: net = correct answers - wrong answers / 4. Official KPSS scores, however, are produced by ÖSYM using standard scores and current-year exam data.

Which KPSS score types can be calculated?
There is not only one KPSS score. The candidate’s education level and target position determine which score types matter. This calculator covers five groups: Bachelor’s (KPSS-P1–P48), Associate degree (KPSS-P93), Secondary school (KPSS-P94), Religious Services / DHBT (KPSS-P122–P124), and Teaching types used only for applicable past exam years (KPSS-P10, P120 and P121). In the Bachelor’s and past-period Teaching groups, the calculator displays all score types that can be estimated from the entered tests rather than asking the user to choose one score type first.
- Bachelor’s (P1–P48): alongside General Aptitude and General Culture, tests such as Law, Economics, Business Administration, Public Finance, Accounting, Labour Economics, Statistics, Public Administration or International Relations carry weight depending on the announced post.
- Associate degree (P93) and Secondary school (P94): based only on General Aptitude and General Culture nets, each weighted 50%.
- Religious Services / DHBT (P122–P124): used for Presidency of Religious Affairs posts, split by level — P122 Secondary school, P123 Associate degree, P124 Bachelor’s. All three are weighted General Aptitude 15%, General Culture 15%, DHBT-1 30% and DHBT-2 40%.
- Teaching (P10, P120, P121): shown only when the selected exam year is 2024 or earlier. P10 rests on Educational Sciences, P120 on a foreign-language (YDS / e-YDS) result, and P121 on ÖABT field knowledge. Since 2026 the route into teaching runs through MEB-AGS and ÖABT, so these three types cannot be selected for a current exam year.
A score type is computed only when every test it uses carries at least 1 raw point. For example, in DHBT types, if either DHBT-1 or DHBT-2 is left blank that score type cannot be computed; the result screen names the missing test.
KPSS net calculation vs KPSS score calculation
KPSS net calculation shows the raw net result from correct and wrong answers. KPSS score calculation uses those nets to estimate the score types that are applicable within the selected group. Net is therefore the starting point of the calculation, not the official score itself.

During KPSS preparation, candidates need to see which test carries the score and which test holds it back. This makes the next study plan more realistic.
How to use the KPSS score calculator
- Choose your KPSS group: Bachelor’s, Teaching, Associate degree, Secondary school or DHBT.
- Where the selected group includes an exam-year control, choose the year you want to evaluate. Past-period Teaching score types are available only for the years in which they apply.
- Enter the correct and wrong counts for the tests shown for that group.
- For DHBT, specify your education level so the result is evaluated as P122, P123 or P124 as appropriate.
- If you already know your net, you may leave the wrong field blank and type the net directly into the Correct field.
- Review all score types that the calculator can produce for the selected group.
- If P3 includes an approximate rank or historical appointment/placement benchmarks, treat them as supplementary estimated context rather than an official result.
Correct plus wrong answers must not exceed each test’s question limit: 60 for General Aptitude and General Culture, 80 for Educational Sciences, 75 for ÖABT, 40 for each of Law, Economics, Business Administration, Public Finance, Accounting, Labour Economics, Statistics, Public Administration and International Relations, and 20 for each of DHBT-1 and DHBT-2.
How should candidates interpret a KPSS result?
A KPSS mock result should not be treated as a final judgment. It is a signal showing which parts of the preparation are strong and which parts need a more focused plan.
- If General Aptitude is weak, separate Turkish, mathematics and reasoning issues.
- If General Culture is weak, separate history, geography, citizenship and current knowledge gaps.
- If Educational Sciences fluctuates, review both concepts and question interpretation.
- If ÖABT is weak, field knowledge may need priority for teacher candidates.
- One mock exam should not define the candidate’s whole future.
After each mock exam, choose one or two weak areas for deep review. Focused correction is usually more useful than trying to fix everything at once.
KPSS score and appointment expectations
Candidates often ask whether a KPSS score is enough for appointment. A calculator cannot answer this with certainty. Appointment depends on score type, field, quotas, institution requirements, city preferences, number of applicants and current-year official announcements.
The same score may be strong in one field or year but insufficient in another. Therefore, estimated KPSS scores should be read as an early indicator, not as a guarantee.

Special note for teacher candidates
Teacher candidates should be especially careful because teaching-related scoring and appointment pathways may involve current MEB and ÖSYM arrangements. P10, P121, Educational Sciences and ÖABT should not be read without checking the current official guide.
In practical study planning, teacher candidates should track the balance between general tests, Educational Sciences and ÖABT. A candidate who is strong in the field but weak in general tests may need a different plan from a candidate with the opposite profile.
For some candidates, improving ÖABT may have a stronger effect. For others, General Aptitude or General Culture may be the limiting factor. The target score type determines the study priority.
Example KPSS net calculation
Suppose a candidate has 42 correct and 8 wrong in General Aptitude, and 38 correct and 10 wrong in General Culture. For P3, the estimate mainly uses these two tests.
- General Aptitude net: 42 - 8 / 4 = 40.00
- General Culture net: 38 - 10 / 4 = 35.50
- Total used net: 75.50
- The calculator evaluates these nets with the relevant weights of the score types available in the Bachelor’s group; P3 is one of those results.
In the past-period Teaching group, entering the relevant Educational Sciences, ÖABT or YDS / e-YDS components allows the calculator to show the applicable results together, including P10, P120 and P121 where supported. General Aptitude and General Culture alone therefore do not describe the whole past-period teaching profile.
