The Hesapstan Hijri calendar converter is designed to convert Gregorian dates to Hijri dates or Hijri dates to Gregorian dates according to the selected calendar method more clearly. The tool supports civil Hijri and Umm al-Qura style calendar conversion, but the result does not replace local or official religious announcements.

What does the Hijri calendar converter do?

This tool converts dates in two directions: Gregorian to Hijri and Hijri to Gregorian. You choose the conversion direction, enter the date and select the calendar method.

The tool uses JavaScript calendar formatting capabilities for islamic-civil and islamic-umalqura calendar methods. The output is therefore a calendar-method-based conversion.

Not an official announcement

Hijri month starts may be determined by local moon sighting or official institutional announcement in some countries. This tool does not replace official, local or religious announcements.

Gregorian to Hijri conversion

In Gregorian → Hijri mode, you enter a Gregorian date and select the calendar method. The tool shows the corresponding Hijri year, month and day according to that method.

This is useful for checking a Hijri equivalent for birthdays, historical events, planning or questions such as “what is today’s Hijri date?”

Hijri to Gregorian conversion

In Hijri → Gregorian mode, you enter Hijri year, month and day. The Hijri year must be an integer from 1 to 1800, the month must be 1–12 and the day must be 1–30.

The tool then tries to find the matching Gregorian date under the selected method. If the entered Hijri date does not exist in that method, the tool may report that no matching Gregorian date was found.

Hijri months may be 29 or 30 days

Not every Hijri month has 30 days. The 30th day may not exist for some months or methods.

Civil Hijri and Umm al-Qura

The tool offers two methods: civil Hijri and Umm al-Qura. The civil Hijri approach is a more regular algorithmic calendar method. Umm al-Qura is a calendar method widely associated with Saudi Arabia.

The two methods may match for many dates, but they can differ by a day in some cases. The difference comes from the calendar rule used to define Hijri month starts.

Why can Hijri dates differ by country?

The Hijri calendar is lunar. For religious use, month starts may depend on local moon sighting, official authority decisions or the calendar method adopted by a country.

Therefore, the Hijri date or religious-day announcement for the same Gregorian day may differ across countries. This tool does not resolve those differences as an official source.

Can it be used for Ramadan and Eid dates?

The tool can help understand Hijri-calendar dates such as Ramadan or Eid at a calendar-conversion level. However, official Ramadan start, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha dates should be checked from the relevant local authority.

Check official sources for religious days

Do not treat the output as final for Ramadan, Eid or religious observance. Check the local religious authority, official institution or reliable calendar announcement.

How can I find today’s Hijri date?

To see today’s Hijri date, choose Gregorian → Hijri mode and select today’s Gregorian date. The tool will show the Hijri equivalent under the selected method.

However, an “official Hijri date today” can depend on country or authority. For religious or official use, local official sources should be checked.

Hijri months

The Hijri calendar starts with Muharram and ends with Dhu al-Hijjah. Because it is lunar, its months do not fall on the same Gregorian dates every year.

  • Muharram
  • Safar
  • Rabi al-Awwal
  • Rabi al-Thani
  • Jumada al-Awwal
  • Jumada al-Thani
  • Rajab
  • Sha‘ban
  • Ramadan
  • Shawwal
  • Dhu al-Qadah
  • Dhu al-Hijjah

Why might no matching Hijri date be found?

In Hijri → Gregorian conversion, the entered Hijri date may not exist under the selected method. This is especially possible when entering day 30 for a month that has only 29 days in that method.

If this happens, try a different day, a different calendar method or check an official calendar source.

What does this tool not calculate?

  • It does not perform moon sighting.
  • It does not produce country-specific official Ramadan or Eid announcements.
  • It does not calculate prayer times, imsak or iftar times.
  • It does not verify historical calendar usage in documents.
  • It does not guarantee official Hijri dates for every country or institution.
Calendar conversion only

This page is for Hijri-Gregorian date conversion. Religious practice, official documents, courts, contracts or local calendar announcements require official source verification.
