The weighted grade calculator provided by Hesapstan is designed to combine three different assessment scores from a course (such as two exams and a final, or an exam, homework, and a final) using weights you set, to calculate your overall weighted course grade.

How is the course grade calculated?

The weighted course grade is calculated by multiplying each assessment score by its own weight, adding the results, and dividing by 100: Course Grade = (Score1 × Weight1 + Score2 × Weight2 + Score3 × Weight3) / 100. The three weights must add up to 100.

For example, if your course weighs two midterms at 30% each and the final at 40%, enter each score and its corresponding weight into the relevant fields to see your overall grade.

How is this different from the midterm-final calculator?

Hesapstan's midterm-final (vize-final) calculator computes only a fixed two-component (midterm + final) structure, where the final's weight is automatically set to 100 minus the midterm weight. This tool instead supports three independently-weighted components, fitting a wider range of course structures such as two exams plus a final, or an exam, homework, and a final.

What does this tool not calculate?

  • It does not directly calculate courses with more than three assessment components; if you have more than three, you may need to group your scores into three main categories.
  • It does not know your institution's official passing grade; the 50-point threshold shown is only a common convention, not an official rule.
  • It does not apply curved grading or a letter-grade conversion table; it calculates only the numeric weighted average.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why must the three weights add up to 100?

For the weighted average formula to give a correct result, the three component weights must together represent 100% of the course grade. If the total is not 100, the tool notifies you and does not calculate a grade.

What if my course only has two assessments?

You can enter 0 for the score and weight of the unused third component and set the other two weights to add up to 100, or use Hesapstan's midterm-final calculator instead.

Why is 50 used as the passing threshold?

This is used only as a common reference point. The actual passing grade varies by institution and course; check your school's or university's official rule.

Does this tool give a letter grade (A, B, etc.)?

No, this tool calculates only the numeric weighted average; letter-grade conversion requires an institution-specific table and is not included in this version.
